STAT 2509: Introduction to Statistical Modeling II - offers a data-driven approach to statistical modeling, focusing on key techniques such as regression analysis, experimental design, and nonparametric methods. Students will explore simple and multiple linear regression, learning the method of least squares, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, correlation, and residual analysis.

The course also covers variable selection techniques and addresses challenges like multicollinearity. In addition, the course introduces experimental design concepts, including Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and Randomized Block Design (RBD), along with multiple comparison procedures and two-way ANOVA. Students will also engage with categorical data analysis using Pearson’s chi-square statistic and conduct chi-square tests for independence and homogeneity. Nonparametric tests are integrated to provide alternative methods for data analysis when standard assumptions are not met.

This course precludes additional credit for STAT 2602, STAT 2607, ECON 2202, and ECON 2220, and requires STAT 2507, STAT 2601, STAT 2606, or STAT 3502 as a prerequisite (or permission from the School).
